We are an Ammonia Free Salon and Natural.

Mainstream hair care lines often contain a ton of harmful chemicals and aren't even required to list all their ingredients. At NJ's Organic Hair Salon we want to give you the most natural hair color options on the market.

We are an Ammonia Free Salon and we source products from companies that are natural, transparent with their ingredients, and use as many Certified Organic Ingredients as possible.

Our hair color line is by Natulique as well. If you have allergies, are pregnant, vegan or are simply trying to live a natural lifestyle then this page is for you!

Allergies

Ammonia:

If you have an ammonia allergy, no worries at all! We have ZERO Ammonia in our Hair Color line and almost all of our products.

However, we do have a few products that contain ALS. These are the Hair Washes by Natulique. Ammonium Laurel Sulphate is a much safer alternative to SLS. If you would like more information on ALS (Ammonium Laurel Sulphate) please visit this link. If you still want to avoid ALS we have lots of other shampoos for you to choose from. :)

Gluten:

The vast majority of our products by both Intelligent Nutrients and Natulique are Gluten Free. The color line by Natulique contains Sodium Cocoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein but this ingredient has been confirmed Gluten-Free by Gluten-Free Dietitian and Nutrition Consultant Tricia Thompson of www.glutenfreewatchdog.org.

PPD:

Are you allergic to PPD or just hate the thought of it? Then you're in luck. The majority of our Natulique colors use the lowest possible amount of PPD so you can still get that amazing color. However, we also have 100% PPD Free Shades by Natulique as well. Your color choices will be slightly more limited with these but there's still a pretty good variety. Patch Tests:

If you have allergies but still want to try our hair colors please let us know so we can give you a patch test a day or two before your appointment.

Pregnancy

Doctors Know Best:

All of our hair care and styling products are safe for pregnant women, however it gets a little trickier when it comes to hair colors. No one at NJ's Organic Hair Salon is a doctor so please read the following information and then consult with your doctor or health care practitioner before deciding which route you would like to take for your hair color.

PPD & Pregancy:

PPD and Pregnancy in general do not mix well. While the majority of our hair colors contain the lowest amount of PPD possible, we also have a PPD Free line of colors available by Natulique as well. Your color options are a little bit more limited with these PPD Free shades but they are all very beautiful. You can read (and show your doctor) this website page to find out more about the PPD Free shades.

Highlights (No Color Directly on Scalp):

If you really want a color that is not available in a PPD Free shade then perhaps consider getting highlights instead. This is great because the highlights can be applied without the color actually touching your scalp. The scalp is the most sensitive area and is where you would be absorbing the PPD into your body. Please remember that we use the lowest amount of PPD possible so this could be an option for you as well. If you don't want highlights and the shade you're looking for isn't part of our PPD Free line then you may need to wait until after your pregnancy to dye your hair.

Cruelty Free & Vegan

Cruelty Free

All products and hair colors carried at NJ's Organic Hair Salon are cruelty free. Natulique is a company based in Denmark where it is illegal to test cosmetics on animals. They are also proud supporters of the Humane Society.

Vegan

The vast majority of our products from Natulique are totally vegan. We do however have a few products that contain silk and a few that contain lanolin but we still have lots of vegan options. While Natulique colors are vegan the Activator we use from them is not as it contains lanolin. Unfortunately this Activator must be used when dyeing hair so if you are vegan and you want to get your hair colored you may need to look elsewhere. If you're just wanting a cut or other service then just make sure you tell us that you're vegan so we can use only vegan products on your hair.
